Deeplish Primary School
Having been awarded the contract to construct the £2.9 million new build Deeplish Primary School in Rochdale, a challenging completion period of twelve months was set.
Constructing the new school on an existing site meant that the functioning school must remain open and fully operational at all times. In order to achieve this Jackson Jackson dedicated substantial resources into understanding the schools procedures and how it worked.
Works commenced whilst the school was operational and due to our early involvement in the design process we were able to efficiently plan the location of the site entrance, site compound and various other amenities in order to reduce the effect of site traffic and site noise on the existing school. Furthermore, we ensured the children using the school were correctly educated about the dangers of having a construction site on their doorstep.
This was done by our health and safety team, who gave two separate talks on how they should behave around the site, as well as providing regulated monthly trips onto site to see how the works were progressing.
